Our client is a multinational corporation operating in the technology and energy management sector and specializes in providing innovative solutions for energy efficiency, sustainability, and automation across various industries. We seek a seasoned professional to fill the Senior Export Control – Continuous Improvement EMEA role.

This position will be pivotal in ensuring that the EMEA region is “audit ready” and in managing internal and external investigations and Voluntary Disclosures. The successful candidate will spearhead initiatives in this region, with the potential for replication in other regions, making them instrumental in shaping our global export control strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Investigation and audit preparation

·       Proactively prepare for governmental investigations and audits, ensuring readiness and compliance before they occur.

For that purpose:

·       Develop and implement the Export Control assessment methodology taking into consideration the EMEA regulatory requirements.

·       Work in collaboration with the Export Control Operations Lead and elaborate yearly assessment plans based on needs, export data, risks, and geopolitical events.

·       Coordinate and manage the Export Control internal assessments together with Export Control Operations for the region.

Investigation Management

·       Whenever an Investigation is identified internally or required by governmental EMEA authorities, serve as the primary coordinator.

·       Act as the main point of contact for authorities during investigations, facilitating data collection, conducting interviews, and drafting responses to inquiries.

Voluntary Disclosures

·       If required, coordinate, draft, and manage the Voluntary Disclosures to the authorities – involve stakeholders such as Trade & Customs Compliance

Corrective Action Plan Management

·       Every Export Control Assessment and Investigation finding will generate a Corrective Action Plan.

·       For that purpose, develop the Corrective Action Plan and identify the stakeholders.

·       Manage / Coordinate the Corrective Actions.

·       Prepare the reports (for internal recordkeeping) and/or reports to the authorities.


·       Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.

·       10-15 years of experience in export control, with a strong background in process management, procedures, and auditing.

·       Demonstrated experience in managing investigations and coordinating with regulatory authorities.

·       Proficiency in European languages, with exceptional English and legal vocabulary proficiency.

·       Previous experience in a consulting role or a similar position within the industry is advantageous.

·       Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with the agility to adapt to evolving regulatory landscapes.

·       Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.

·       Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and execute strategies effectively.

·       Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

·       Willingness to travel, up to 2 times per quarter.
